Over 1,000 Eversource crews are preparing to respond to power outages during Tuesday’s nor’easter, according to Eversource spokesperson Chris McKinnon.The daylong storm that began Monday night could drop up to 18 inches of snow in parts of western Massachusetts and northern Worcester County. While snow totals will likely be lower in parts of eastern Massachusetts, wind gusts could reach up to 65 miles per hour. About 32,000 power outages are being reported across the state as of 8 a.m. Eversource says most of these outages are happening in Western Massachusetts as heavy, wet snow accumulates. “We do have crews prepositioned across the state right now,” McKinnon said. “Our focus is watching those Western Massachusetts numbers and we are working to restore outages as quickly and safely as possible.” McKinnon says Eversource hasn’t seen the winds kick up yet in Eastern Massachusetts, and that’s what their next concern is going to be as th...

Yet excluding volatile food and energy costs, so-called core prices rose 0.5% in February, slightly above January’s 0.4% gain. The Fed pays particular attention to the core measure as a gauge of underlying inflation pressures.Even though prices are rising much faster than the Fed wants, some economists expect the central bank to suspend its year-long streak of interest rate hikes when it meets next week. Toronto man accused of sexually assaulting woman during meetings at human rights organization

Police say a 64-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after a woman was sexually assaulted numerous times at the Canadian Human Rights International Organization in Toronto.Toronto police allege the suspect sexually assaulted the woman between Feb. 25 and March 1 during meetings at the organization, which is located on Finch Avenue West near Keele Street in North York.Jose Mario Guilombo, of Toronto, was arrested on March 9 and charged with five counts of sexual assault and two counts of forcible confinement.Investigators have released his photo because they suspect there may be other victims. Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.

Pakistan police, ex-PM Khan supporters scuffle near his home

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistani police on Tuesday scuffled with supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan outside his home in the eastern city of Lahore as officers arrived to serve a warrant for the 71-year-old opposition leader to appear in court later this week on graft charges. Police fired tear gas at the house as Khan’s supporters hurled rocks and bricks at the officers. About a dozen police and some 35 of Khan’s supporters were reported injured. Tear gas shells and pieces of bricks littered the pavement as Khan’s followers fought back with batons snatched from the officers. ATHENS, Greece (AP) — State-employed archaeologists in Greece launched strike action Tuesday to protest an assault on an archaeologist on the island of Mykonos, an attack they say may have been linked to commercial pressure to extend tourism development.Archaeologist Manolis Psarros was beaten by two unidentified men on the island last week and was left unconscious and bleeding in the street.
